Kids, you didn't qualify for the Disney semifinals. What are you going to do with your day off now?
We're going to the STATE FAIR! I hadn't been to the fair since an ill-fated hooky day during my Senior year and the kids had never been. So, we loaded up the van and met my mom there for a day of thrills, chills (well, not really, it was 80 degrees and humid), and of course, fair food.
Eeyore Jr. tears into his turkey leg (it weighed at least a pound...where do they find turkeys that big?). He then expressed (multiple times) a desire for something "Sweet and deep fried". He certainly was in the right place. Out of a ridiculously long list of contenders (just how does one deep fry Pepsi??), he settled on deep fried oreos, battered and dusted in powdered sugar. If only they could put them on a stick, they would be the perfect fair food.
More deep fried fun...nel cakes, that is.
Chosen to pull the half hour steam whistles. They were certainly loud.

Looks like fun! I love funnel cakes, but I have to admit that I haven't been to a fair since the current trend of deep-frying Twinkies, Snickers, Oreos, etc. What's next? Deep-fried sugar cubes?
Wish we could have joined you! The shot of Eeyore Jr. eating a turkey leg is exactly like a picture of ds at last year's Renaissance Festival. Mmm. Best not to think about where they get the unnaturally large turkey legs.

We passed by it several times this weekend and DS 4 kept saying, "Let's GO!" I can't say I'm sorry we missed it...even though I know it's fun once in a while. Hmmmm...I'm thinking "once when you're a senior" then again "when you've had four kids" is a pretty good time span! (JK)
Glad you all had fun!

I've gotten behind in reading your blog (the boss has been in district this whole week), but had a lovely time with Trevor sitting here reading and looking at pics.
We miss all of you!
Love,
Laurie
