I'd pull my hair out, but I know from experience how silly I look bald...
Any veteran soccer moms know how to get nasty, black MILDEW out of neon yellow soccer socks?!?
Yes, mildew. Evidently that's what happens when one leaves socks in their soccer bag after their Saturday morning game.
And stores them in the hot, humid, garage.
For two days.
What's grosser...the child in question had the nerve to try and just slip this laundry disaster in to the hamper.
Updated Tuesday morning: Thanks to Mom and Sally...a good soak in oxyclean and a hot water was has seemed to minimize the damage!

Ewww. Try color friendly bleach, but I'm not so sure it will work. I haven't had much luck with de-mildewing around here. :(
I agree! Ewwwwww!! I think said child should delve into their piggy bank and buy new socks so you can throw the offending pair away!!!
I did, however, salvage a pair of shorts that ds had totally STAINED beyond recognition by soaking them overnight in a solution of oxyclean and dishsoap then washing them with that water PLUS colorsafe bleach and laundry detergent. They look like new!! Plus they are still in good shape (not threadbare) which only attests to the power of Old Navy!
Oh...YUCK! I'm afraid I'd be in the throw them away club...however I know that some people use Zout and Color Safe Bleach (separately) and then Oxyclean in the wash. I wonder if Borax would work?

Eww, eww, eww, eww, eww! Of course, I'd trade that for M's bout with a gastrointestinal virus that decided to erupt after major stomach cramping while she was climbing down out of her bunk bed the other night. She managed to coat her entire room, the hallway, the office (where I was working on lessons for the next day) and the bathroom. It was so awful-and I'm used to dealing with her "messes." However, this one was not of the GERD kind!
Glad you got it out!
In His Love,
Niki
